It was about time someone took another stab at chronicling the fabulosity that is the Hamptons and we're happy that VH1 took up the challenge. Airing today—yes, today—as part of their "Fabulous Life of..." series (which also includes Hottest Heiresses, Really Rich Music Videos, Lindsay Lohan—you didn't think we'd be in bad company here, did you?) the show will take a realistic and unflinching look at the Hamptons: "Take rows of sprawling mansions, add exclusive nightclubs, throw in some the finest dining and shopping in the country—plus some of the hottest A-list events imaginable. Think you're in Hollywood? Uh-uh, you're in the Hamptons, baby."
If you're suddenly feeling the urge to poke your eyes out and cancel your cable subscription, give them a minute to explain themselves. They have broken Hamptons existence down into 3 easy to understand categories.
Real Estate: This is the first time that Ira Rennert has been name checked in the past few months without the words "evil, corporate, polluting toady" preceding his name. According to the Fab Life: "The first essential for living a fab Hamptons existence? It's got to be shelter. And we're not talking about some cramped summer share because in the Hamptons, it's not just about having a roof over your head; it's about creating a beachfront fantasy with four walls. Take billionaire Ira Rennert's 100,000 square foot mansion known as Fair Field. This Southampton mega-mansion boasts 29 bedrooms, 39 bathrooms, its own bowling alley and theater, not to mention a $185 million dollar price tag."
Parties at Mansions: The next logical step is partying and Fab says you can expect "invites to some of the most off the hook parties on earth—like Hamptons Magazine founder Jason Binn's annual star studded Memorial Day weekend party." Ummm, right.
Parties at Clubs: After raging with Jason Binn you're going to want to head to the clubs where you can...rage some more. "At the newest Hamptons hotspot Dune, big spenders pay up to 5 grand to secure one their coveted dance floor tables for the night. That is, if they make it past the velvet rope. And at trendy club Pink Elephant, A-listers like Jessica Simpson and Jessica Alba can lounge in their own private heated cabanas and sip on 25,000-dollar bottles of Dom Perignon."
Round all of this out with "The Little Black Book," which lists links to four—and only four—different Hamptons companies: Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs, Corcoran, Loaves & Fishes and Blue & Cream—and you've got a well-balanced little snap shot of the Hamptons. Looks like our little secret is out.
